Lewis model Finland - Germany

The model created by Richard Lewis, divides human behavior patterns in three main groups: linear-active, multi-active and reactive. He visited 135 countries and worked in more than 20 of them, which helped im to come to the conclusion that humans can be divided in categories, based on behavior.

Characteristics:

Linear-Active:

  • task-oriented
  • Polite but direct
  • highly organized
  • doing one thing at a time
  • rarely interrupts
  • sticking to facts
  • result oriented and like to move quickly forward

Multi-Active:
  • talkative, impulsive
  • relationship and people oriented
  • doing many things at the same time
  • interruptions
  • uncomfortable with silence
  • Flexible truth
  • impatient

Reactive:
  • listeners - reacts to partners action
  • no interruptions
  • do not voice strong opinion easily
  • never confronts
  • very people oriented
  • patient
  • conceals feelings

Finland is placed between linear-active and reactive but a bit more on the linear-active side. Which I can totally agree from what I experienced so far and mentioned in the blogpost before. Germany is placed right at the left corner at linear active which kinda suits as well. The more colder countries at first for most of the time compared to my southern background. In southern countries people are talking way louder when the conversations is interesting or hyping which is often received as yelling by Germans and Finns but we really do not mean to offend anybody. As well as there is actually no such thing as personal space in southern countries (multi linear) compared to active linear countries. I am still fascinated by the differences and think its interesting how some stereotypes really fit and how different behaviors of people can be.
