Solheimasandur Plane Wreck

Our third stop on the first day of our road trip is the plane wreck. The DC Plane Wreck is a famous site located in South Iceland, its rusting shell laying on haunting black sands. The wreckage is a particularly beloved spot by local and visiting photographers alike thanks to its sparse and wild surrounding landscape and its incredible visual contrast to the aircraft’s gnarled metal.
The parking spot for car, which is free, is quite far from the attraction. We had to walk approximately 40 minutes to the wrack in the middle of nowhere. And while we were walking it was foggy and windy as well. But at the end it was worth it and after spending the whole day in the car a stroll to the ocean was quite relaxing. The fog and the wind cleared off after we arrived and we had a nice view on the way back. That was our last stop for the day as the sun was already going down and we had to drive to our airbnb in vík í Mýrdal, which remote village by the sea in the south of Iceland. And there is no point to drive to a sight or attraction if its already dark. We are always a bit concerned with airbnb but this one was alright. We had a room with two beds. The toilet and the kitchen is shared with other people but we didn't meet any just saw some people in the kitchen. The bathroom and the toilettes were quit clean. Breakfast was included in the 89€ we paid for one night.

Studying and living in Finland during "Quarantine"

The corona pandemic was at the beginning just a big fun until it got serious. In the beginning many people made fun and the internet was booming about jokes and memes related to corona but meanwhile it is quite serious. Especially in countries like Italy, France, Sweden and Germany the whole thing has degenerated. Exit bans and mask duties were issued. The stand here in Finland/Turku it is luckily not so serious yet. Safety precautions have been taken like schools and universities have been closed and many are working from home. In supermarkets there are hand sanitizers at entrances and exits and a safe distance is maintained. Restaurants now only offer food for pick up or delivery. Bars, cinema and crowded places are closed, events are cancelled. Meetings with more than 10 people are prohibited. The boarders to Helsinki were closed for a while too. About me... My first post is about myself. My name is Selina and I am 20 years old. I am from Germany but currently in Finland for 9 months. In these 9 months I will do a double degree here. I am studying international technical sales in Germany. The question that was often asked me here is, why Finland? For this question there is a simple answer: the only place where I can do the double degree in my course of studies. But of course also because I find the country itself very interesting. It's my first time in a Scandinavian country and Finland is in a good starting location it's easy to travel from here to Scandinavia. It's a whole new experience for me, especially with the cold. Normally when I go on holiday it is always south to warm countries and with Scandinavia I definitely leave my comfort zone. I am together with my bestie on this trip. We live here in Turku. We have already planned some trips. Unfortunately we don't have as much time as we hoped.

Kart in Club TURKU

Further activity that can be done at the moment is going Go-Kart driving. We were around 8 people and it was a lot of fun. We payed 20€ each. The place provides you overalls and helmets. There is a given route outside where we drove along. A lot of us spun in the track curve or crashed into each other. One of our friends got hit while spinning and ended up in the grass. The race was about 10-15 minutes in my opinion pretty short for the price but as the route is not too big it would have been boring otherwise. At the end they gave us our results as they tracked everyones time.
